In Yasodhara Ashram:
sitting at a spacious dining hall overlooking a beautiful lake with green mountains on the other shore, listening to the rain falling on the ground, on the roof, on the outside chairs and tables...
finding my peace and my piece here...
The place is challenging for me in a number of ways but I think those are good challenges. The ashram is run mostly by aging girls in the biological age range from 60 to 80 years old. They are splendid beautiful wonderous women. There are men too, but you can tell that the place is run by women - everything is in order and well-organized. Really.
There are many biologically young people too - karma yogis and yoginis, workshop participants, visitors. It is wonderful to work together with people of different ages and different histories, altogether doing simple daily tasks such as dish washing and garden weeding, cleaning houses and preparing meals.
I am tested every day in my ability to surrender to the present moment, to be humble, to not judge myself and others, to be open, to not expect, to not feel entitled to receive, to give, to listen, to be with myself truly.
I am excited about this opportunity to grow. And I am scared of it too, as I know that growth is not easy. How do I know when I grow? Why is it even important? Why am I here? What am I learning here? What is my lesson? What am I giving?

Идет снег, пушистый и, как ни удивительно, белый. Воскресенье тоже идет, своим медленным ходом. Оно, воскресенье, почему-то движется медленнее, когда идет снег. Так вот снежинки парашютируют плавно, и кажется, что время тоже вместе с ними приостанавливается, а не прямым броском по закону гравитации или по еще какому-то неумолимому закону.
В общем, это я так время замедленное наполняю: залезла в ЖЖ, и вот нагружаю время, чтоб быстрее падало. |
